Gladiator Boot

Spring 2014 is upon us and it’s a perfect time to update the dark, inevitably stale wardrobe by now, with just a few key items to get you into spring time mode.

Pink – Not usually my favorite color on myself, seems a little too girly for me, but it’s the best way to really make a statement this spring, and I will try it. It can be pale, bright, orchid in shade. You will see it everywhere. If you are more of an edgy girl then pair it with tight jean, rolled up with your cage heels and you are all set.

Prints. They are huge, again! This time we are seeing matching prints on prints. Artistic and botanical will be shown in everything. Think short sets, jumpsuits, rompers, and skirts with the matching crop top. All look so fresh and cool no matter where you live. Now, lets talk about the crop top for a minute, which takes me to #3 on my list

The Crop Top. Who should wear it and with what? Unless you are JLo, the crop top for someone in the 30’s-60’s is not meant to show your entire midriff. It is meant to compliment proportionately a high- waisted pant or skirt. Worn this way it looks absolutely fresh, modern and appropriate. If you are in your late teens and 20’s, then have fun with all the crop tops and short skirts that are everywhere. Someone has to have fun!

Skirts. They come in all lengths this Spring, so don’t be worried about the “I hate my leg syndrome.”  You Will see maxi, short, and midi. A couple of newer trends and silhouettes will be the short flare and the midi pleated skirts. I think skirts are so fresh and should be a staple in the closet.

The Caged Shoe or Boot….What is it? Well, anything gladiator (horizontal straps) has always been the trend for summer feet, but now you will see both the gladiator and the caged (looks like a criss cross puzzle) “boots” working their way up the legs of many. The “boot” is a great look with little spring, summer dresses and rompers, but be very cautious and honest about your legs. Size, length, and proportions are key to wearing this trend. The flats or regular heels are for everyone and will instantly give you that cool factor!

If you aren’t sure what to buy, or what you need, and all the trends seem overwhelming, this is always a great time to hire a personal shopper to get you on your way to a brighter and better spring wardrobe. They will know what to put you in and the trends that will fit your body and lifestyle and work for years to come versus just a few months. In the long run, hiring a personal stylist can help save you money and time. Your closet will love you.
