There are a lot of trends in the 2016 collections we’ve seen so far that have made an impression on me. Some are new and some we’ve seen from previous seasons, but either way they are fabulous and guaranteed to make any outfit stand out. This week, I’d like to talk about four trends that have caught my eye so I can show you how to style them into your personal wardrobe.
ROMANCE
The romantic trend is in mode right now and a great way to show off your femininity. Ruffles and lace are all the rage this year with several elegant and flirty styles. This dress from Anine Bing is a great way to embody the style with a modern take on an elegant style.
A great silk blouse like this one from Givenchy also embodies the romantic era. The intricacy of the shirt makes it a work of art and a statement piece that is truly unforgettable.
We’ve also seen the style embodied with ruffles on pants and skirts. These from Clover Canyon are a little more practical to wear for nighttime parties or dinners and easy to pair with a silk blouse. The ruffles give the outfit an extra touch to make it extremely fashion forward.
BOUDOIR
Boudoir is another style we’ve seen a lot of and I am loving it. It is extremely sexy if done classy and tastefully but it must be done right to pull it off. You can’t just leave your house in your lingerie or pajamas but with a tasteful bralette paired with a transparent shirt or jacket, the look is one of my favorites. Agent Provocateur has some beautiful bralettes that can be easily paired with a nice blazer or as a peek-a-boo look under another shirt for a sexy and chic nighttime look.
The robe or kimono style also falls under this trend and has been very prevalent in recent collections. This look is so easy to pair with a simple dress or even pants and a blouse to give it an extra touch. This printed chiffon kimono jacket from Anna Sui is a great find and extremely easy to pair for a day or nighttime look.
The slip dress look is also a classic we’ve seen before but continue to love. It can be worn in the day with a dainty sandal or dressed up for night with a strappy heel. You can also pair a delicate slip with a jacket to give it a bit more of an edge. The great thing about the slip dress is that you can find it at all price points. This dress from Tularossa is only $50 but looks great and feminine for any occasion.
ETHNIC/GLOBAL
The fringe and floral prints fad is back so don’t toss last Spring’s collections quite yet. Printed pants are very in this year with so many different styles and fabrics at all price points. If you’re looking for a higher end piece, Valentino made some amazing pieces that are great to wear for an evening dinner or even a work function.
Fringe is also very in style and can be paired with a printed pant to complete the chic style. This fringed appliquéd tulle top from Jonathan Simkhai is a great find. It’s simple enough to be paired with a louder bottom but also a fun and unique style that gives your outfit more flare than your basic silk top.
DENIM
As always, denim finds its way into every collection, every year because it is the epitome of a classic. Denim on denim is back and better than ever this year with so many variations in skirts, tops, bags, and even shoes. These shoes from Jimmy Choo are absolutely fantastic and embody the style beautifully. They are fun and modern and can be paired with any color palette.
The skirt and top combo is also a great look if done well. You don’t want to be mixing up different types of denim that don’t mesh well together but if you pair items fluidly, the monochromatic denim look is sure to turn heads. Nicholas also makes a great lighter wash denim skirt and top combo that I just adore. It is cute and casual for a daytime chic look that you can wear to a brunch or garden party.
Madewell makes great denim dresses that are great for on the go style. You can find styles that are longer or shorter for every body type and sense of style.
Givenchy is also going to make a denim pandora bag this season that pairs easily with any outfit. YSL has also jumped on this fad and made their signature monogram bags in a denim style as well.
You simply can’t go wrong with any of these styles if you take my advice and pair them as explained. Try incorporating these looks in your outfits to stay on top of the trends and make 2016 your year to revitalize what your wardrobe says about you. Keep a look out for more 2016 trends I’ve had my eye on coming soon to my blog next week!
