Fall Formal Dressing

We’re approaching the season of holiday parties and galas when we always panic and ask the same old question: what do I wear?! It’s easy to just grab that same dress you recycle for every formal event but this year let’s try something new to ring in the season.
Formal dressing doesn’t necessarily mean long gowns anymore. There is so much more you can do to look elegantly chic. Separates are great this season for a more modern look. Pairing a skirt and blazer or pants with a jacket or blouse can be a great look. You can also dress it up or down for an evening out with friends. I love this idea of separates because it’s practical to mix and match so you can have a few items to alternate new looks for different occasions.
If you do prefer the long gown look they can still be sexy and modern. Show some skin in lace or velvet that is extremely in mode. A deep v cut or an open slit to show off your legs is the perfect amount of sexy done tastefully.
Midi and short dresses are also good choices for formal wear; just because the dress isn’t floor length doesn’t mean it can’t be equally as sophisticated.
Jumpsuits are always appropriate and easy to wear for all events as well. These are great items to have in your closet because you can dress them up or down depending on the occasion. They’re also great for middle of the road events when you aren’t sure if you should be more dressed up or casual. This look is the perfect in-between for a modern style.
It’s also important to remember what to wear over your gowns to complete your look. You can find a great velvet blazer or a fur coat or bolero to walk into the party in style. The accessories you’re wearing over your outfit is just as important as the dress itself.
