It’s music festival season, and even if you didn’t head to Palm Strings last weekend or are in the process of buying tickets to Bonaroo, the 70’s and bohemian vibe is still a wearable trend for Spring and Summer this year. With a nod to hippie chic with a cool retro edge, there’s a way to incorporate some key pieces into your wardrobe, whether you’re hitting the festivals or not!
First we’re going to start with jeans. In my opinion, jeans are the backbone of most successful wardrobes. They come in so many styles, washes, and price points and sometimes it’s tough to navigate what works best for you. The latest looks for this season pay hommage to the 70’s and it’s a fit that I’ve always favorited, the long and lean flare. This fit is actually one of the most flattering fits you can find in jeans. The best way to wear it is very fitted through the thigh and having the flare just starting below the knee. We’re not talking full-fledged bell bottoms (unless you are planning on time traveling to the 70’s), but this slight flare is one that looks great with a platform or wedge for added effect. A really a pointy toe will get lost with this style.
Here are two of my favorites:

The Gap also does their perfect boot style which is a great slim flare for those who may be on the fence about the style, and you can’t beat the price
Another denim trend is the girlfriend jean, which is a bit more flattering than the tried-and- true boyfriend jean. I don’t usually put too many clients in the boyfriend only because most of us want to look slimmer rather than bigger. It’s a hard jean to wear although extremely comfortable and trend on, but not for everyone. The girlfriend jean was born and is a bit more flattering because it is slimmer through the hips and legs.
Here are a few to try at definitely the right price points!

Another big trend in pants of all fabrics is the culottes. These are a bold statement to make and are not for the faint of heart! However, I love the cool, trendy, stylish vibe of this sooo much, even though it’s not the easiest new trend to pull off. If you do it…think heels! The most optimal heels would be pointy toe pumps to further elongate the leg, and I would stay away from this style altogether if you are petite.
