Kim’s Spring 2020 Trend Report: Part 1

It’s not spring yet but you should be ready with your spring wish list and start stocking up on what you like and need asap. If you saw my last email (here), I detailed why cleaning out your closet shows you exactly what you are missing and need to add to your closest. If you have not done a spring cleaning, get on it! You will be so glad you did.

Now for the trends!

There are several trends to talk about this Spring, many of which I’m thrilled about, here are 4 of my favs that I want you to know about:

The New Suit: No we don’t all need to wear suits to work, but you will want to this season. Lots of color, different pant styles, and jacket cuts make it a great refresher from your corporate, dark suiting. We have rounded up different price points so everyone can get in on the suit play this season. These are great separates to mix and match for countless options all season long.

Styling Note: Disclaimer, I do not love the new culotte/longer short suits. They are a trend that will go away, so don’t invest big bucks here. You can have fun and play around with the style if you are in a creative field, or just extremely stylish, otherwise, keep to the more “traditional” style bottoms.

Back to Nature! Of course one of my favs as it is all about the earthy tones, sometimes all neutrals, mixed with a bit of spicey tones here and there.

Styling Note: These are all great pieces to add to your “basics” wardrobe, so stock up on what you like now and I promise they will all transition well into the fall months!

Flower Power 70”s. It’s back! While Florals for Spring isn’t earth-shattering, this spring, we see them in bold prints and colors with a retro feel!

Styling Note: I personally love the style. It’s fresh, fun, and easy to pair with your neutral pieces and accessories.

Lastly, it’s all about Volume….in dresses and sleeves. This is a trend that I absolutely love. Easy and very stylish in an avant-garde sort of way. Very comfortable to wear day to night.

Styling Note: Proportions play a very important role here, especially if you are petite. Look for a short or midi length, maybe a sleeveless dress so the volume is only at the bottom, pair with a heeled sandal or boot. This is a style that tends to work better on taller women, but I promise there is something out there for women of all sizes in this style of dress. Also, bold colors here are great as well. You will see a lot of pinks and blues, and of course your whites. Valentino did a beautiful rainbow of colors this season in voluminous dresses, so take a look at his SS20 runway show, if for inspiration only..you’ll love it!
