This week’s blog is all about the first week back at school and how to stand out from the crowd to start your year in style. Who better is there to enlighten us on what is in style on a college campus than a student herself? My intern Peanut will be taking over this week and sharing her knowledge about essentials every college student must have to start the year off right! See what she has to say below:
For many of us, the first week of school marks the official beginning of Fall! Now that summer has come to a close, we look forward to seeing our friends again and catching up on all of our summer activities. As always, we like to dress to impress for our first week back to ring in the new year in style. All across the country students are sporting different looks on college campuses with unique twists on campus fashion. But no matter where you go to school, there are a few must have items every college girl needs to start the new year off right!
Sneakers are becoming the new fad for fall styles which is a college girl’s dream. As we all know, it isn’t fun walking around for hours across campus in our sandals so trendy sneakers are definitely a must have to sport a stylish yet practical look that is perfect for on-the-go wear. Athletic companies have some great new designs out that have turned sneakers from athletic to everyday wear. You can even customize your own pair of sneakers at Nike Online to sport a totally unique look.
Athletics wear in general is also a great look to sport as a busy college student. As a USC student, workout wear has definitely made its way into my everyday fashion seeing as LA is a workout empire. This look is perfect to throw on for early morning classes and brands like Lululemon make it easy to look fashionable and sporty all at the same time. Pair a printed pair of runners shorts with a solid colored t-shirt and sneakers and you’re good to go!
Making the extra effort to spice up items you already need for class always adds a nice touch to a student’s overall look. Try standing out from the crowd and find a fun printed phone or laptop case that everyone is sure to complement. Sonix is one of my favorite brands for iPhone cases and they are now available at any Nordstrom.
Erin Condren is also an awesome brand for customizing agendas and notepads; items every student needs to purchase anyway. You can get personal with your agenda and customize specific sections for notes, calendars, and even include fun stickers that will help you stay organized in style.
The same goes for pens and pencils! Having to take notes in class is boring enough as it is so spice up your note-taking and come to class with fun writing materials that will brighten up your work. Etsy or ban.do are great websites to find fun pens, pencils, and highlighters that have unique patterns or even inspirational quotes on them to get you through the day.
Backpacks are also an item that everyone uses but few go the extra mile to make a statement with. The backpack has become the new tote bag and now comes in all styles and price points. High fashion designers like Stella McCartney have even started creating looks to revamp the classic style. Have some fun with your backpack and make it more than just a staple; make it a fashion statement to complete your campus look.

Last but not least, statement glasses have been a huge trend all summer and will carry into fall undoubtedly. Styling your outfit with a pair of statement glasses is the easiest way to immediately look fashionable without having to change your outfit a bit. Every student needs a pair when walking around from class to class all day so get creative with your choice and find a pair that will stand out from the rest.
Start this new year off on the right foot by making every day a fashion show! You have to look good to feel good and putting a little extra effort into your everyday campus wear will definitely result positively in making this next year your best one.
